SETBACK
The Setback of a barrier system is defined as the distance from the outside white line of the carraigeway to the traffic face of the barrier.
CLEARANCE
The Clearance is defined as the clear space behind the barrier between the barrier and any existing hazard such as a lighting column or bridge pier etc. If a hazard requires a clearance dimension that falls between the upper and lower limits of a specific Working Width as shown in the table below, then the WW of the required barrier system is the WW below that in which the clearance falls; for example, if the clearance is 1500mm (W5) then the WW of the barrier must be W4
