Hill & Smith Limited Introduces

Our new vehicle restraint system to meet the new requirements of BS EN 1317 parts 1 and 2
Over the last 12 months or so there has been a significant change in the way Highway Safety Barriers are specified.
The UK's Highways Agency has issued documents (IRRRS) advising how the barriers are to be specified in relationship to the new performance test standard BS EN 1317 parts 1; 2; 3. (parts 4 and 5 of this standard are still in draft form). The fundamental change in the specification is that a type of barrier such as "Tensioned Corrugated Barrier" can no longer be shown on the Bill of Quantities; the bill must specify the performance criteria, for example ----N2 W4 for impact on one side only. Click here for a synopsis of the criteria.
As a result of these changes Hill & Smith has undertaken a major development programme to introduce a range of products that satisfies these criteria; this has resulted in the introduction of the new barrier systems we have called FlexBeam.
